Hi! I haven't posted in awhile but there hasn't been much to report on Bill's Acromegaly. Well his IGF-1 levels have been fairly normal until the last 3 months. He had levels drawn in January which were fine but the April levels were above 400. So his endo decided to wait a month and recheck because he had had to be hospitalized for 34 days in march with his bipolar disorder and emergency gallbladder surgery and There were several days when I am sure he did not get his shots. Anyway so his latest test results were worse not better. He's not up to 535 on 30mg a day of Somavert. The endo thinks he has developed a resistance to it. So we have the option of surgey, radiation or switching to Sandostatin LAR. Well we decided to switch to the different shot as it is the least permanent option. So we called and left the nurse a msg on Teus and Bill stopped by on his way back from working out to find out when they thought he might get his first shot. The endo was joking that it shouldn't take long as long as it wasn't coming from near New Orleans. His nurse came up about then and said they had gotten a fax from the company that said that shipment of the medication was suspended at this time with no know time of resuming. I hate this but at least we still have almost a month worth of somavert and that's better than nothing. Just thought I would update you on Bill's situation as well as give those on Sandostatin the info about the drug. You might want to give your doctor a call and check the status if your on it.
