Hi Debb,
I lost about half of my hair starting about 2-3 months after my surgery. I'm about 16 months post-op now, and it seems to be growing back, even without trying Nioxin. It's very thin and dry though, and I have all these crazy tufts of hair sticking out all over the place, hehe. Prior to my pituitary trouble, I had straight hair. When the tumor started growing (I think that's about when it started), my hair became dry and curly. I have a few new grey hairs too, but I just assumed it was due to stress.
I also think the hair loss really is due to stress from the surgery (I mean that was kind of a major undertaking for your body). I had a different surgery about 10 years ago, and had some slightly less drastic hair loss, but on the same time frame. Also, my dermatologist has said that hair loss is a common occurrence following major surgery.
Hope this helps :) (btw I'm 34).
