Gray hair at 40........hello?  A lot of us started getting it in our 20s.
With Pituitary irregularities it is possible to have a thyroid condition as well, and one or both can contribute to hair loss and grayness.
A friend who does not have a Pit problem, but has breast cancer and had chemo and lost all of her head and body hair.  Well when her hair came back, it came back her natural color and no gray, and she is 47.
I have the Pit problem and Hypothyroidism.  I started getting gray hair in my early 20s and now at 51, I'm very gray and white and even my eyebrows and eyelashes are white.

It really doesn't matter how much or what color it is; it matters more what your attitude is towards it.
Gray hair did not make me feel old.  All the music that came after the '70s did.
