Hi,
I had a hysterectomy about 5 years ago.  I had a complete hysterectomy but they left one ovary, that has since shrivled.

The thing to do is be good to yourself before, during and after.  I made copies of special music that would let me relax after surgery.  I had been walking about 3 miles a day before the surgery so I was in fairly good shape.

If I remember right I got a lot of good advice from a website called hystersisters.com.  The one thing I do remember them advising was to take a small pillow with me.  Caughing or laughing can be uncomfortable.   Holding the pillow close to your tummy keeps those muscles from hurting.  My surgery was supposed to be done as out patient but apparently the Dr. had some how irritated by bladder causing me to have horrible bladder spasms and I had to stay in one extra day.

I lived by myself at the time and did what I wanted when I wanted.  I know in your case that's not going to be possible but if anyone asks if they can help in anyway DON'T turn them down.

This is a time you need to take care of yourself.  I'm sure everything will be fine.
