Hi Meri, Thanks for responding. Yes my dtr has hypercalcemia
and yes to hyperthyroidism. Has been miserable for years. Only recently diagnosed tho, and told she needs surgery SAP. Severe risk of kidney stones etc. Some of the things her surgeon has said, like staying in the hosp a few days...or possible  losing her voice have raised a lot of concerns. And now that they have determined her bad gland is in the chest/heart area..the Doc has warned her a surgery similiar to open heart may be the only option she has ie "sawing thru the rib cage and prying apart the ribs" yes he actually said  those words. we too have read nearly every word on parathyroid.com  and a gazillion other places.Even on his site tho..little is said about abnormal locations..hence my plea for any info. She currently is scheduled for surgery May 11 which may change if its the more complicated procedure. She did call Dr Normans office and was told a minimum 3 months to get in there. At the time of her call tho, the location was assumed to be in the throat.  the thought of having it over and healed by the time of a long planned trip to Spain in June, and feeling better as oppposed to waiting for at least 3 months to get it done was needless to say difficult.  So now we are really looking for info to help w' decision.. Dr Norman sounds...WONDERFUL..lol.............Wshn
