Hi Maureen!
You know, I think one of the best things is to have a doctor on your team who is encouraging. It helps to have someone who cares about YOU! This sounds like she is willing to be part of the team that manages your care. This is important! I think you have a keeper! (Can I borrow her?) :). I am sorry to hear that your insurance won't cover her. This happened to me like 2 weeks post op with my pcp. It was hard on me adding yet another doctor (blech). In the past, I had asked doctors to refer new ones (in the case of primaries), but this time, I decided I'd just see my hubby's doc. I always admired how he fussed after my hubby and my eldest son... and let me tell you, he jumped right in there and wasted no time getting things in order where my issues were concerned.
Good luck at OHSU. We'll be thinking warm thoughts for you.
