Residual Tumor, or is it the actual gland

Hi Elaine - Actually a large number of people live without the pituitary gland, but you are right it is not very easy. I just wonder if Jason's pit gland is actually the beast that is producing his high growth hormone levels now, and not an actual tumor. If that is the case than he will end up on drugs to try and control it that are making him sick. I am just curious about the large number of people that have come through surgery with no visable sign of residual tumor but are still producing excess hormones. It makes me wonder if the gland is sick itself. Jason's pit gland appears to be functioning perfectly except for the high level of growth hormone. His endo. is drawing blood again today to see if they can find a reason why his hair is falling out after almost 20 months on the drug. Will we figure out Jason's options in the next few weeks as he has a MRI on the 5th. This disease is very frustrating. Anyway, I was not considering having Jason's pit gland removed, but was mulling over the idea that the gland itself was sick. Hope that makes sense. - Chris |
