Residual Tumor, or is it the actual gland

I have a negative MRI and high IGF-1. I thought that since the pituitary gland was squished by the tunmor the damaged pituitary gland was producing excessive GH. Unfortunately, my endo states that the elevated IGF-1 indicated residual tumor cells which are not showing up on the MRI. he recommended radiation which would probably end up destroying the remaining pituitary gland. I was not too keen on this idea and voted for medical management (somavert) until the tumor shows up on the MRI which may take several years. I'm hoping I will eventually be eligible for the more focused radiation treatments such as cyberknife.
By the way, according to my endo Sandostatin is suppose to have some tumor inhibition properties which are not found in Somavert.

Good luck! PT
