Hi Debbie, I think the MRI experience varies depending on where you have it done. I had an open MRI and they gave me ear plugs to listen to music and also gave me a panic button to hold so that if I started to get upset and wanted out, I just had to push it and they would come and get me. They did wrap me up in blankets and I just layed on a table for the MRI. The also put my head in a box/cage like contraption and, for the most part, my body was not in the machine. I think mine lasted about 45 minutes because I had mine done with and without contrast. The contrast they used for the MRI was different than the dye they've used for catscans...I'm not sure if it's always different or because I'm allergic to shellfish and could possibly have a bad reaction to the dye so they used a different type. The dye for the MRI contrast was great and I didn't feel any of the affects from it. When you get an MRI of the brain, you do need to keep your eyes closed at all times because it can mess up the films if your eyes are moving. I ended up falling asleep since I had my eyes closed anyway. Good luck with everything and I hope they get to the bottom of the sleep disorder with you. -Tiana |
