Hi. You defenitely need experienced (more then 500 surgeries and good statistics for cure) pituitary neurosurgeon. It is worth traveling anywhere in USA. Get your MRI burned on CD(they can do it in the film library in your hospital) and send it to several top pituitary surgeons for evaluation. You can find names on this web site under "Helpful Doctors" section. Call their office and ask how many pituitary surgeries they performed. For example, Dr.Laws who did about 4 thousand pituitary surgeries charged me 150$ to review my case (I sent him MRIs on CD) and send me the letter with his opinion. Other surgeons may do it for free. I contacted Skull-Base Institute in L.A. First of all, Dr.Shahinian is not a neurosurgeon so insurance probably will not cover it. I did not speak with Dr.Shahinian, I spoke with his stuff on the phone and I felt that they were not honest with me. They have impressive and marketable website, that is for sure. After you choose your neurosurgeon make sure that he will be the one who operate on your pituitary because young neurosurgeon have to practice on someone. Good luck. |
