----------------------------------------------------------- From: Acro1974 Message 10 in Discussion Thanks for your replies. I scheduled surgery with transposition on August 30 and gamma knife on September 28. I saw endocrinologist yesterday. Endocrinologist told that there is chance that surgery alone might be curative-tumor cells in cavernous sinus that are not surgically accessible may undergo apoplexy (self destruction) as a result of surgical manipulation of other parts of tumor and gland. Endocrinologist said that according to his research, in case of total tumor removal after 7-10 days IGF-1 goes down toward the low end of reference range. Endocrinologist said that if after 10 days my IGF-1 will be around low end of reference range and GH during growth hormone suppression test will go below 0.1 then he would suggest canceling gamma knife and just waiting and rechecking hormone levels often. ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
