Good-day All,
How strange that so many people who suffer with pituitary disease have so many
symptoms in common. EG. (1) 2002 I awoke one morning with a prolapsed disc. Six
weeks later, I had a discetomy & fusion. After the operation things went
from bad to worse. I began putting on excess weight and started having severe
headaches, excessive sweating, blurred vision, neck cramps, no smell or
taste & the list goes on. ( Get a life.) (2)
2003 MRI revealed a 3cm pituitary macroadenoma. I was described as a walking
cadaver. I was immediately put on hormone replacement & Dostinex.
Most of my ailments improved within days & I was able to
exercise. Approximately six months later I had surgery & a partial resection
was performed. I am now unable to perform any task without some
disastrous side effect. My prolactin level has seesawed from 27000 to 1200 to
my
most recent test 30300. I have never failed to take my
medication as prescribed. Due to the high prolactin level my endocrinologist
has
increased the Dostinex from 4 x 0.5mg twice a week to 6 x 0.5mg 3 times per
week. Occasionally I am unbearable to live with now due to my ups &
downs, so what will I be like with an increase in the Dostinex dosage. In the
past year, I have had 2 more prolapsed discs, the shingles & a
suspected heart attack. My most recent MRI revealed no significant change
in the amount of residual tumour (Thanks be to God) &
the support from my loving wife. She accepts me the way I
am. Warts & All. For Better or Worse.
God Bless All the Pituitary Sufferers.
Aussie Nev.
