Hello to all, sorry it's been a long time since I posted last. My surgery was
Dec 06. Last fall they told me my igf-1 levels were increasing again and would
need to try sandostatin to control it. Started with the daily injections to
see if my system would tolorate it, did ok, so they switched to once a month
injections. During my Feb 08 follow up I told my endo about abdominal pain and
upset stomach. long story short I developed a large gall stnne and had my gall
bladder removed yesterday. Now we will see about restarting the sandostatin
LAR depot and hope the igf-1 stays controlled it did drop my levels 100 points
through the first 3 months on it. Also I have been able to go back and enjoy
my ballroom dancing and relearning west coast swing dancing, lots of fun, just
have to rest when I need to but the people I dance with understand and have fun
as well, including teaching and dancing with my wife. People are always
surprised that someone my size can move so well around the dance floor. I
ballooned up to 360 lbs. before surgery and have since been able to drop to 305
lbs. but I can still fly around the dance floor. Have even placed well in both
Tucson and Phoenix west coast swing Jack and Jill competitions. I still fight
joint and muscle pain but find that movement helps and by forcing myself to
move, although being able to do something I really love helps, it allows me to
keep going. Hope to all, Tom from Tucson
