----------------------------------------------------------- From: nedaTN Message 6 in Discussion Knowledge is power so I encourage you to learn all you can. Also hormone levels affected by Acromegaly can contribute to feel run down and depressed. Not only should they check growth hormone levels but testosterone and thyroid levels as well. These levels being off could leave him feeling very out of sorts. Also understand that it may take time to test and adjusting of medications and potentially surgery in order to see results. Just let him know that you are there to support him in this illness regardless of the current state of your relationship. Let him know if he has questions to write them down and then maybe you can post to the group and relay answers back to him. It can be a scary thing for both the patient and family members but it's also treatable. My husband Bill has been thru 2 surgeries and and has taken Somavert for quit some time. We have seen our share of doctors and hospitals and then some. The people here are wonderful. Also check out the chat room on Monday nights. Sometimes it helps just to know your not crazy or alone. Also post your location. The people here know a lot about the dr's around the country and may be able to suggest someone. It's very important to get a good dr that he feels comfortable with.
