----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: PT3688041 Message 1 in Discussion I am 4 years post transphenoidal surgery and 1.5 years post cyberknife. My IGF-1 levels have been running in the midrange of normal with 20 mg of somavert every 3rd day. Went for a check up last friday with the neurosurgeon and neuroendocrinologist. The tumor is still there and is shrinking slowly - down ~1 mm since last MRI about 9 months ago. I was not impressed as 1 mm sounds like it could be within measurement error. I was surprised when the neurosurgeon recommended no more MRIs unless there is a radical change and to determine the effectiveness of the cyberknife by hormone levels alone. Then the neuroendocrinologist further surprised me by taking me off the somavert for the next 6 weeks to see what happens to my IGF-1 level. He stated that he will doing this once a year until , hopefully, the IGF-1 remains within normal limmits without the somavert - interesting. I just hope my face does not swell up like it did before my original surgery. ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/PituitaryChat/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
