Well, everything seems messed up. At least my IGF-1 is normal as nothing else
seems to be. T4 is too high, parathyroid (PTH) is too high, Vitamin D is too
low. Puffing up, short of breath, pounding heart, fatigue, weakness. I wish
that they would get things straightened out. Neuroendocrinologist got fixated
on the low D and I had difficulty him getting to notice the elevated T4 which I
think is the cause of the breathlessness and pounding heart. Did lots of blood
work - do you every get to the point where you feel like a pin cushion?
Hopefully things will get straightened out eventually though they have been
working on this for 4 years. The endocrinologist refers to my problems as "some
sort of MENS syndrome" as the genetic testing was negative. The one good
thing is that I was granted tenure last week so my job is safe in these hard
economic times. I was diganosed with acromegaly 2 weeks after accepting my
current position 4 years ago. My part-time job is in danger because of my on
going weakness.
