Folks,

I've been following the discussions about migrating SVR4 installation
scripts, and while I understand how the SMF strategy is intended to work
for post-install work, how are we to deal with preinstall and most
especially, preremove?

I'll be visiting my packages to understand what is being done in the
preinstall scripts we have, but right now I can offer that in preremove
we do unregistration tasks and stopping kinds of tasks that need to be
performed before bits can safely be removed from a running system.

What's the intended strategy for taking action *before* the bits are
(installed or) removed?

Will there be an SMF-pre-action?

Or a "veto" capability such that pkg uninstall will fail with an
enlightening message if an unconfiguration tool hasn't already been run?

thx, --emk
