Okay, the good news is that there's nothing wrong with the packaging
system here.
This is a problem with the package itself.
Specifically, the package was never republished after build 106 when
SPARC support was first added, so it is causing the packaging system to
install an older version of sunstudioexpress that was never properly
published for SPARC.
To workaround this issue, you should be able to do this (after pfexec
pkg uninstall ss-dev possibly):
pfexec pkg install SUNWj6dmo SUNWsvn SUNWbtool SUNWj6cfg
SUNWgnu-automake-19 SUNWj6rt SUNWaconf SUNWmercurial SUNWlibtool
