But you are voicing valid concerns.  The SMF proliferation for IPS
is one ot the things I really really don't like in the New World Order.

Specifically, the presence of a service for the sole purpose of covering
a package installation lifetime is counter-intuitive (to put it lightly :-).

This would basically amount to the SVR4 package "build script" feature,
i.e. introduce arbitrary scripting.  So I guess that's out.

Maybe one SMF service to cover all installed objects, and go through
properties instead?  Not a big change in functionality, but a big
one in visibility.

To add something, add a property and refresh the service.  To remove
something, change or remove the property and likewise refresh.

Just a thought...
