Hello Marco,

I had the same thing for a while and thought it was a Mac OS X issue,
but it turns out it was an ODE assertion problem. All world examples
failed, with the exception of terrain.world, just like you are
experiencing.

To get rid of this, build ODE again and make sure you run configure
with the right options (depending on what you need), but making sure
you use the --enable-release option, which builds an optimized
library without debug symbols enabled, and which will not crash under
these assertions. Then rebuild gazebo.

By default, ODE builds in single precision, so make sure you change
that to --enable-double-precision
Also, I don't remember if OPCODE is used in the default options, so
use --with-trimesh=opcode to use OPCODE for trimesh code, which is
necessary for GDAL use.

If you have problems write back or check the archives for this list,
as I believe (if my memory ain't bad) that a message was recently
posted describing the same process to get rid of seg faults and the
like.

Cheers,

--Juan
