Ok, I did some more extensive testing with the options on my GF4 card and found out that with hardware xrender acceleration + Composite loaded and using xcompmgr with certain parameters i was indeed able to freeze x server. I don't think we really can have this option set, so it will probably be removed in 7plf. Without the option Composite with nvidia will be too slow to use, but at least it doesn't freeze in any situation. The second option, however... with the option unset and Composite enabled, the X server crashes right away. I also did a quick test with glxgears if the GLX really works with composite, and it seemed to do so. If GLX still doesn't work perfectly, I think it's still better than crashing X server on start. However, as Composite (and then probably RenderAccel also to enable it to run at reasonable speed) has to be enabled manually anyway, we could just skip this line for simplicity. Any more opinions from anyone? I'd appreciate that. -- Anssi Hannula _______________________________________________ PLF-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://www.zarb.org/mailman/listinfo/plf-discuss
