backports installed. It prints a message that it cannot open lirc
support, I don't have lirc hardware. That means lirc support is
compiled in there. Please try with that mplayer as well.
I just installed it - it still doesn't output any lirc message from the
command line, but I'm not in front of the machine so I'm using an SSH
connection and mplayer complains about not finding any video screen to
output to. It may be preventing the Lirc part to load, so I'll try that
tonight directly from the console.
