Steve, I understand your other pressures. In the long term we would like to see a proper solution to this problem. In the interim perhaps it is just best if we mark this facility as experimental and likely to change in future releases. We try to avoid API changes where possible, so it would certainly be nice to have the final(?) version in place for the next stable release, but this is probably not in the imminent future. We could integrate your mktime patch for the present as a work-around. Alan - do you have any thoughts? I am quite happy to help with the testing and integration of any code into plplot if that helps. The native QT driver would be a very nice feature - but is less pressing in the sense that it does not impact on the rest of the library or lead to any API changes.
