Hazen already knows about this, but just to let this list know as well
my first attempt to convert the timeephem svn repo to a git repo
appears to be a complete success with regard to the history (i.e., all
revisions with some well-understood exceptions appear to be present in
the git history as expected). Hazen is doing the equivalent with
PLplot of everything I have done with timeephem, and that is a big
help to me with my timeephem conversion, and I hope vice versa.

In sum, it is looking good so far, but there is still quite a bit of
additional testing needed for the git repositories for timeephem and
PLplot that have been created as well as some other practical steps
required before the official conversion to git repositories for both
projects will be completed.

More later as the testing of these git repos continues.
