Hi Arjen:

Purely speculating now, but since there is a huge change in your
results, could it be you forgot -DBUILD_DOC=ON?

Also, what are the results of "make VERBOSE=1 validate" (which should
run using onsgmls.exe regardless of whether -DBUILD_DOC=ON or OFF).

By the way, you forgot to include the attachment you had prepared. 
But if the speculation above doesn't help, then please respond with
more than just the verbose make results.  That is, I will need the
complete details as noted in the "Useful Problem Reports" section of
<https://sourceforge.net/p/plplot/wiki/Building_PLplot/> which include
verbose make results and much more.
