I haven't been paying too much attention to the details of this thread
so I may have missed something, but I noticed from your remarks above
that the newest version of PLplot you have tested is 5.9.5. That
version of PLplot was released 10 months ago, and we have fixed a lot
of issues since.  Could you please try 5.9.6 (released last month) or
the svn trunk version (which the developers use as a basis for the
next release) to see if the issue you have found has been solved since
the 5.9.5 release? Build directions are at
