        But that blows two of his requirements:

        1. GPL

        and 2. Work with Plucker content

        Seriously though, this is how scope creep happens. Start small, i.e.
MemoPad with >4k doc support, native Plucker/zlib support, add some markup
and enhanced text (bold, underlines, larger fonts), and then work from
there. Definately not impossible at all, and like you said, there are dozens
of editors out there that do this or that, but none meet all of his
requirements.
