Palm isn't moving to Symbian, so that's not a danger. Palm is moving their backend to a Linux-based kernel environment, over their present environment, and that actually helps development efforts, not hampers them. Currently, Plucker runs natively on Linux with the gtk+ viewer, as well as Windows Mobile devices, PalmOS and so on. Plucker runs on the Maemo and that is a Linux-based Nokia device. Why would a Linux-based Palm device be any different? Porting Plucker to "Whatever Comes Next(tm)" wouldn't be that difficult. Keeping it in one unified codebase is where things can get challenging. But I'm only one drop in this vast ocean. -- David A.
