I also was under the impression that Palm was phasing out their
hand-held devices, at least the ones that weren't phone-intensive. It
looks like they only have three models. As an avid reader/plucker user
who uses an aging (and always crashing) Zire 72, I've been at a loss of
what device to migrate to. I don't want an all in one device, and
plucker capability is a must for me. So plucker will migrate forward?

Palm isn't moving to Symbian, so that's not a danger. Palm is moving
their backend to a Linux-based kernel environment, over their present
environment, and that actually helps development efforts, not hampers
them.

Currently, Plucker runs natively on Linux with the gtk+ viewer, as well
as Windows Mobile devices, PalmOS and so on. Plucker runs on the Maemo
and that is a Linux-based Nokia device. Why would a Linux-based Palm
device be any different?

Porting Plucker to "Whatever Comes Next(tm)" wouldn't be that difficult.
Keeping it in one unified codebase is where things can get challenging.

But I'm only one drop in this vast ocean.
