Rather disappointed to see that the new version of Plucker Viewer (1.4) has no support for hires devices such as my Sony SJ30.
Did you download the 'Plucker Viewer with EVERY option' zipfile at plkr.org? That one has hires enabled,.. the standard viewer-only zip has no hires. (David, you should label that on the download page)
Ahh. Okay. The description says "and supports hi-res devices". I didn't see that before, but I could have missed it.
My interest in updating from v20030611-am is that there is a bug in the way any of the jog dial functions work when the 'autoscroll slower' function is assigned to it. When I reported this several weeks back the word was that it was fixed in the 1.4 beta. I tried that but the autoscroll stuff didn't work right at all. (It still doesn't work right in the new version, btw). Each scroll update seems to wait for a complete screen redraw, which takes way too long. This was more noticable on the beta in hires - more pixels to redraw. But this problem *was* fixed in v20030611-am.
OK,.. lets not get excited.. you're talking about two different problems here. 1, 'autoscroll slower' is broken and 2, autoscroll is slow.
Yes, these are two different problems.
The first problem was/should be fixed in the 1.4 release. Can you confirm that it is?
Yes. It's kind of hard to tell, since problem 2 makes the scrolling so slow, but yes, problem 1 is fixed.
The second problem was fixed by Alex R. Pruss's updates to the autoscroll, which was only ever commited to the unstable branch. Those changes migrated their way into my unofficial prc (20030611-am) and will most likely show up in the next release post 1.4.
In the next little while I'm going to post an update on my site which
will contain the latest 1.4 changes plus my own modifications.
I sincerely appreciate your efforts. I use plucker every day for reading the news and lots of other things - it's a very cool program. Forgive me if I seem a bit frustrated. There are so many permutations - latest release, unstable branch, hires enabled latest version, separate hires version.... And that's just for the viewer! I use jpluck for building the content.
Thanks Adam,
Bob S.
