Great insight, thank you!!

I don't think I will unlock my phone so I will be using it as is.  I don't
think I will be using SSH, nor had I contemplated doing do.  Could come in
handy though.

I mostly want it to do social media stuff and manage my blog.

Thanks!!

I have the DNA, and while i love the device i hate the stock HTC Sense
experience. however after unlocking, rooting, and the like the custom rom i
have is pretty nice and allows me to get a more AOSP feel to the device. And
the development on getting Cyanogen to run is very close, they just had a
breakthrough yesterday and got the radois to work, next is WiFi and audio i
think.

Also the dust plug on the bottom will come off on you pretty readily, and the
speaker on minimum volume is actually quite loud still.

that's enough of the bad.

The good. the screen resolution is the best i have seen in a handheld device
ever. it is large without feeling clunky (its actually quite comfortable to
hold and work with, and it is very fast. The battery i get an average of 12-14
hours of use out of the device with medium heavy load, and more with light
load. the sound with beats enabled sounds very good, to the point i can hear
the difference in lower quality streams now where previous devices i could not.
the camera is fast, and very responsive. and the screen is amazing... yes i did
mention it twice. it is that nice.

If you have any specific questions let me know. but i like you dont play more
than maybe one or two games, and its mostly an internet device i can make calls
on.

Side note SSH is a bit interesting, as you have more screen real-estate to work
with, but if you are not careful you may need a magnifying glass to read the
screen, i suggest an ssh client like connect-bot that will let you change your
font size a bit.

I chose this over the Note2, S3, and N4. While the N4 has all the cool
development, the DNA was a nicer device to use, physically. and i actually like
the hardware buttons so they are not actually eating up part of my screen space.

Hi,

I'm thinking about making the move to a smart phone.  I am looking at the DROID
DNA by HTC that Verizon is offering for $199.

I am interested in a smart phone because I would like to use it to take
pictures, capture video, and edit video, so I can manage my blog and social
media.  I might even use it as a phone.

As an example usage:  I went to DMV about a year ago to update my title after
paying off my car.  I had to wait over an hour.  DMV charges for the service
they provide.  I suspect the state has reduced the number of people assisting
customers due to budget constraints.  I also suspect that the DMV turns a
profit and if so that money needs to be used to create a better customer
service experience.

If I would have had a smart phone I could have interviewed several people,
uploaded the video to YouTube.com, written an article for my blog, added some
tweets to my twitter account, and updated my Facebook page, all while waiting.

This is an example as to why I want to upgrade to a smart phone and what my
expectations are.

I'd be interested in what your thoughts might be about the DROID DNA, Verizon,
and how I expect to use the phone.

Thank you!!
