The state governments can pass all the laws they want criminalizing homelessness and build more prisons to house them, but if nobody can pay the rent, the speculators must hold a fire sale. My dad told me all about the Great Depression and Hoovervilles. And of course *everybody* says "it's different this time." Different year, same shit. If it hadn't been tech it would have been something else. Float back to 2009 and 2010 and remember that ubiquitous phrase, "bank owned properties." It's baaaaack. Even if machines do every last bit of the work and normal people are left jobless to starve, it's going to be a bad economy for everybody. My advice is the same as it is every year: Don't spend money.
