Hi Ranjit and Shardul,

I don't mean to step on any toes or be "patronising" but are you guys
using FC3 because you like/want to or are enthusiastic about trying it
out, or do you need a working linux for some productive work? Try
Mandrake?

I tried FC3 on my p3/i810 and right from the start (boot/insall) it
worked only in text mode (no GUI installer) and I had some problems
with X after install so I didnt spend too much time/effort and quickly
reverted back to (my older copy of) Mandrake 10.0 which auto-detected
my i810 fine and started a graphical instal and later Xsetup and
KDE/GNOME worked fine... I just put a LG CDRW drive which I have yet
to try out (k3b etc) but Im sure it wont be problem...

So I was basically writing this email to suggest Mandrake instead of
FC3... (yeah yeah I know there is talk that Mandraka is no longer
"Free" as in community spirit using non-Free software etc, but I dont
care about that). PLUG people have the new Mandrake 10.1 with 4 CDs
which should be good too...

Cheers,
Vishal
