Someone here in GSC is getting PCDirect installed through a local ISP. But
he's only getting guaranteed 10k download B/W. Where daytime speeds are
often running less than 50 bits per second average (unless you're with
Mozcom) - this will seem blazing. I suspect they have more than that for
those who need it. I don't know about software requirements.

This morning, a friend from NZ sent me a note about onevirtual
(www.onevirtual.com) which is supposed to be a Phil. satellite Internet
provider. I visited the site - but it didn't help. So I dropped them an
e-mail. We'll see what they say....

But why spend money to access a satellite when the local ISPs may have
bandwidth you need - both ways. If so, then the leased-line is your
bottleneck. What's the status on microwave links? Aside from the obvious
RF pollution in Manila, there may be a regulatory issue with the NTC. But
much more than 64 kbps is surely achievable between you and your ISP if
it's in reasonable range. It may be more cost effective long-term than a
leased line.
