Find a 4MB S3 ViRGE if you still can.  It was my longest-used video
card, and was one of the simplest to configure.  A Trio64 with at least
2MB will probably do as well.  Stay away from the Trio3D if you can. 
This is the card which broke the S3 cards' compatibility trend.  Yet I
finally did get it to work, after lots of hand-wringing...
