My answer to this is you will be doing all those commands to set it up anyway,
so document these commands and make a spec file for it, (or base your
spec file on the one of the older version).  Not only do you contribute your
effort back to others who will have the same need for it, it will also save you
the time when you have to install the package in several other machines.  

I do this all the time, and really, i cannot emphasize more the added value of
having package managers in a distribution.
