are you on a private IP inside your network? If so, you need to configure IP
masquerading for your internal servers to be able to ping any site outside your
LAN.
If your servers have public IPs, then the linux box should forward IP packets,
and the router you are talking to must know to route that the path to your
internal public IP addresses is through the linux gateway
