and have tried it on voice.  :-)

  seems that your modems are not in auto-answer mode.  not sure with the 
commands to set the supra modems in auto-answer but you may try using the
ff:

1. connect to the modem
   # cu -l cua0         /*modem at serial0*/
   # cu -l cua1         /*modem at serial1*/
 
2. type the following commands:

at                      /* you shld c OK after pressing enter */
atS0=1                  /* set auto-answer after 1 ring */
at&w                    /* save config */

3. press  ~ key wait for your hostname to appear and press "dot". or

4. just power reset the modem
