hello. I am Mon Sagullo, owner of a desktop that suddenly refused to
boot Win98, even after fdisking, reformatting and re-installing the
thing. So now, having little time and money to get back to what I am
doing, was *forced* to install my gathering-dust WalnutCreek Linux 6.2.
When I first bought this Linux CD, I manage to run both Linux and Win98
on my desktop with relative calm. Later on, I decided to uninstall
Linux and went back to the *old ways.*
Question - can I possibly make my Rainbow Runner TV/capture card work
with Linux 6.2? No. I don't have much connection time to see all the
FAQs, that's why I chose this list.
Since I am not a programmer per se, could you point me to a site for
free productivity software for this thing? Barring Virra Mall (that's
too far from Quezon province...) anywhere else where I can buy CDs with
good collection of programs? Any suggestions on which bundle(s) are
good?
Lastly, for now, as a superuser, I can get into the net, how do I enable
my other user account to do this? I tried *granting* my *other self*
the privileges that I think would allow me to connect, but, even
following the procedure specified in my copy of Dummy for Linux, typing
the /sbin/ifup/ppp0 - I get a reply that the file does not exists.
Another last - if I want to see how and where I am whenever I browse,
can I do this in a console? And what can I use that came with the Linux
6.2 CD to do this?
Is it *normal* that once in a while, while browsing, for Navigator to
just *poof* out of nowhere? The thing just shuts down, bringing with it
the Messenger (and my about to send mails).
Thanks and I hope Linux users are not grouchy as most people say they
are. P^)
