switch back to the console to which the X display is attached. if you have
6 getty's (most people do) the X display is attached to tty7, so to go
there do ctrl-alt-f7. you can reduce the number of gettys in /etc/inittab
(for example, i rarely use more than 2 VC's because i use X a lot). saves
a few hundred K of memory here and there (no big deal, but old habits from
an 8MB 486 die hard..)
