Well Mr. Fooler, you chose to use W2K.

I administer my, people and our family group of companies.
I chose Linux for the desktop and the servers.
Why? MONEY... I refuse to pay the microsoft office tax!
So, people are used to using MSOffice, but I gave them
StarOffice and they don't mind. In fact, all terminals in
the building are walk up terminals running remote-x, it's
more efficient. My people don't worry about hangs, viruses
and data corruption. Their work gets done fast, really
fast.

...And I tell you, my people breath a sigh of relief that
there are no more hangs, viruses and other stupid stuff they
all used to live with.

Our company software is clean... legit... to the max.
Thank you Linux Gods!

... we're migrating all our apps to be web based. That way,
it really doesn't matter what platform we're using.

Linux leads Windoze on all counts:

Installation... 15 mins (redhat 6.2)
Price... the best... all essentials included!
Administration... I only admin the application server,
                  the rest are x-terminals.
Applications... StarOffice, Acrobat, Applixware, Netscape

Scanning... MS still better, but I can now scan in Linux!
Just did it with my Scanmaker X6EL and Mandrake
7.0
RELIABILITY... RELIABILITY... PEACE OF MIND....
I never slept soundly with all MS.
Now I know, when there's a problem... its the HARDWARE!

FEATURES? Geez, what features am I missing w/ Windoze?
Blue screen of death? Themes? (Mandrake has lots more!)
Crawling? Scandisk? Viruses? Is that a feature too?

I've got one little fax machine that does NT and Winfax.
My people know which computer is the stupidest... most
inane, unreliable piece of b*llsh*t, that sold through the
use of strong arm marketing without regard to doing it the
correct way... sigh... as long as some people are happy, let
them be fooled by Bill, but once you get to use a Linux
Desktop for a month, you don't ever want to run back to
Bill... EVER!

Do you do part time for Microsoft?

(I'm not attacking you Fooler, I just hate MS so much for
being great in marketing while selling stupid products that
make life for us admins so much harder... at least it used
to justify our paychecks.)

> honestly speaking, im using m$ windows 2000 as my
desktop and linux
>(and also other unix OS) for my servers. im not a martyr
person and im just
>simply applying practicality and economics here. xwindows
has a long way to
>go to catch up m$ windows features as desktop, applications
software, user
>friendliness and ease of use are concerns.
