Yeah well, I didn't mention anything about bugs. Microsoft's sin IMHO is not
buggy software, but poor design. Sure, users can request features, but surely,
Microsoft should've put in *some* security. Check out http://www.clickmarks.com,
a site that puts your bookmarks on the Web -- a Java app has to read your
bookmark.htm, and you have to give it permission. Interestingly enough, the Java
app was even certified by Verisign. Microsoft need not go to that extent. If a
script were to send mail to all addresses in my address book, or scan my hard
drive
and overwrite certain files, I'd sure like to at least know who wrote that
script. I'd even like the option to block the script if I had the slightest
suspicions of sinister intentions. Sure, maybe users didn't request it, but
Microsoft, as an industry leader, should've seen the consequences of a runaway
script.
