If you are using the same kernel version, then you overwrote your uni-processor
kernel's modules with smp versions.  that's bound to confuse the entire
situation.  Only hope here is to reinstall the stock kernel RPM, or recompile
the kernel+modules in another machine, copy it over to the dead machine and
retry lilo-ing the image.
