Hello all,

I've recently setup a linux box using Mandrake Linux 7.0. My problem is
being able to view the "log" files, particularly wtmp. When I installed an
older Slackware, I can just run "last" and see who were the last users. In
this new setup, I can't do so. I need to be root.

The default permission of /var/log is 700 and root.root. wtmp file is 664
root.utmp. I've tried to change the permission of /var/log and 744 and it
didn't work. It just says permission denied.

The setup was installed using server level.

Changing last to suid works but I would like to avoid using that, what
config should I or can I change to allow regular users to view the file?

Thanks.

Take care and God bless.

William
