Hi there everyone,

I was just thinking about the possibility of adding a Macintosh (running
MacOS) to my existing LAN with one Linux fileserver and a bunch of Windows
clients. Please pardon the off-topic.

1. I presume a Mac with a NIC with a UTP port can connect to the same
switch as my Linux and Windows boxes and can be set up with TCP/IP, and
can work with a DHCP server. Am I right?

2. I know that there's this Samba client for the Macintosh. It ain't free,
though. Has anyone tried it with the Linux Samba daemon from
<http://www.samba.org/>?

3. Is there any other way to get file sharing to work between a Mac client
and a Linux fileserver? Something that hopefully the Macintosh already has
bundled software to work with.

Please help. I know NOTHING about Macs. Hahaha. While I'm at it
... sino'ng matinong distributor ng Mac dito sa Maynila?

Thanks and again, apologies for this grossly off-topic post. :)

 --> Jijo :-)

PS- using an Airboard IR keyboard. Pretty neat. Hehehe. Look ma', there's
this flashing light whenever I type! ;>
