I dont know how feasible this proposal would be. To distribute any linux distro CD to INDIVIDUALS (the idea of helping schools & communities to migrate is a BIG endeavor, why not start at the individual level?), why not just set-up a list of snail mail address of persons who are willing to distibute their copy of linux CDs? Interested individuals who want to have their own copies will just send a self-addressed enveloped with the necessary stamps and maybe a few blank CDs to people in the list.
for example if a person wants a copy of knoppix 3.7 but does not have the bandwidth to download the image, he/she could just send me a self-addressed stamed enveloped to me so i could make him/her a copy and then mail it back. simple. the cost of distribution is shouldered by the intersted individual. it would be nice if blank CDs would be enclosed, but not a requirement. The whole scheme would be totally dependant to the honor-system, but them so is most part of Gnu-GPL. I know this post is incoherent at the very least, but i hope you guys get the idea.
