i have one viable reason: alt+tab, at least if we are talking about
windows here then when you alt+tab you will see which browser is
currently tuned to what website. you cant have that with a tabbed
application. the closest thing i know for firefox is control+<number>
(unless there is a firefox extension that i am not aware of) but that
is still tedious especially if you have a lot of tabs open.
