Ian will do, thanks. ;) Yep, I think we should; and these threads could
even be part of the PLUG list FAQ.

Going back on topic: usability should be foremost over design. The best
design is one that is transparent to the user. For me, as long as an
interface makes my tasks easier to accomplish, I'll embrace it.

One way to really see how UI works is to observe how people use them.
Take the above ensuing thread as an example: we have someone who, er,
consumes up to 15 tabs on a single window; one who'd rather tile them;
etc. That way, we -- well, the developers here, at least -- can work out
ways on how to make user experience more meaningful and productive.

Same with web design -- navigation should be a no-brainer. This is where
UI designers come in. (Ever wonder why those who build UI are called
'designers' rather than 'engineers'? Just a thought...) :)
