++pinoy e-mailers have this tendency to be onion-skinned. they are ++treating redirect reminders as a direct flame/insult. yes, they are ++sometimes terse but this is text communication. most people who take ++insults are those who see so much negative impression on a simple ++sentence: "please post your message in the ---- list because this is ++hardly appropriate for this list". boom! me thinks you have to ++paraphrase those messages to fit royalty but then again it might be ++construed as a sarcastic reminder and we are back on square 1. ++ [<-----snip----->] I would have to agree with this sentiment (re: pinoys being onion skinned). I'd suggest spending a day or two subscribed to the linux lists on usenet (or you can find them through google groups if you can't find a news server) and see what flaming and flame wars really are.
I noticed that (generally speaking) Filipinos are usually PITA's when they are around other Filipino's, but placed on a foreign message board, are meeker than sheep. A message board is a message board... if you posted a note on a regular cork bulletin board somewhere and nobody replied, would you be complaining if nobody replied? Or if someone replied with a terse one-liner? I wouldn't, because: 1. I'm expecting free help. 2. I know that this is only one avenue to ask. 3. There are other ways and other people to ask. 4. I can try different things out myself. 5. There's that thang called the Interweb with a gajillion pages. ESR's How to Ask Questions the Smart Way [1] (quite poignant, most of the time, and often excessively verbose) hit this particular topic right on the head. It's definitely a must read for people who want to post to message boards... especially the part about how to react to messages in reply to your post [2]. IMHO, having another fork (linux advanced) might be more detrimental than helpful. Leave it as it is.
