Thought I'd spin off this thread from earlier discussions regarding more Linux articles and getting them published in the mainstream. It's nice to see that some people have also come out and volunteered. Seeing as how a large number of PLUG members are also bloggers, this shouldn't be a hard task.
I guess what I'd like to see in this space is some concerted effort at penetrating local media. Not just web publication, mind you, but actual print. And I would like to see the writers get paid for their work. It's not about the money, it's the principle of the thing.
So, first question: Can someone point us out to contact people in local publications who can help us get published in the mainstream and pay the writers a fair amount?
Other issues would be: who the volunteers are going to be (Gary Mercado and I have already volunteered. Any other takers? Clair? Sacha?); what the topics will be (condensing some of the issues in the PLUG mailing list into articles would be a good start).
We can tackle those later; but I need pointers on the most pressing issue above.
